2009 retirement COLA was created by lifermc
good morning,
wondering if anyone knows when congress will approve and the president sign into law our 2009 COLA? just trying to get a rough ideal and budget how much my pension will rise by. seems to me i read somewhere our cola could be as much as 6.2%
seem possible?

Check the Army Times online. Under Benefits it had an article on it last week.

Anybody besides me thankful as can be that our military pensions are pretty secure -- unlike a 'company' pension that is apt to go up in smoke when the company goes under?

I agree .. secure is great. But I always wonder where the feds get the figures that tell me my COLA is a couple percent a year when I see fuel nearly double in two years, and staple groceries about 50% ... and then we get a 3 or 4 percent raise to keep up. Hummmmmmmmm

I went to Army times and read the article. I don't understand it all but it looked more lt looked more like 4%. It also stated that it not automactic, that congress has to approve it.
