Larry Quote: "...I've also thought about a paid membership to access the listings."
That's a good idea for paying expenses, but if these guests don't join now for free, wonder what would make them join for a fee... seems like they'd go elsewhere and only come here because it is free ...
NO matter how good and helpful this site is, as Larry says, many guests come and go away after one or two looks for info. SO, creating an access fee might send them away permanently.
I know of a lot of sites "camping' or other 'hobby sites' that charge a fee, and most have a very few members and have a tough time getting new ones ... the BOD always has a hassle in NATCOA (a truck camper group), for example, trying to get everyone to sign up and pay.
So they at one time gave a huge discount if members paid for five years. And, the core members did that, but there's not enough new ones, so the group 'spent' that initial income, and then had almost NO members income for five years because its core members were all paid up in advance.
I always ask the vets at these campgrounds if they use the site, and if not, tell them about it - some go look and some don't. I think the retired guys here are not so much of the computer generation, so are a little CPU-shy, but the retirees coming down the pipe now are more electronic oriented, and use forums a lot, so as these guys retire, will probably add to the total members here - we hope!! Monkey,
Your response includes all the reasons I never carried out with that idea.

The only thing wrong with being retired is that you never get a day off!

Just meant a lot of us don't have that computer comfort like our kids do, and we raised them with. My son knew more about how to do the electronics even when he was seven or eight, and could set up the TV and stereo, and all that. And, push the right buttons ...
SO, that generation will bring more individuals to this site than we do. And, you're chopping one up that may someday join us, so better back off on that or he'll electron you back ... and you'll never know what hit you ... M44

I just re-read my previous comment and realized I may be talking to the wrong person about using this website and the forums. No disrespect intended but I do believe the partner/wife of the veteran (such as myself) could be the person who makes the reservations and I will start talking to the partner/wife of the veteran to educate them about this website. My husband depends on me to find the campgrounds to stay and I make all the reservations; even on the MCG's so I will approach the partner/wife and try and generate some interest in using the website and especially the forums.
