One more thing about this just came up on the RV.net site, which lots of you read - and has the same issues as some of us campers.
The increase, when discounts are not allowed, is then carried by one group - the disabled or seniors - rather than all the users.
Would be fair if the prices are raised for everyone to offset the costs, rather than take a discount from only the qualified discount holders. It means that one category pays more, not everyone that uses the US CGs.

Increasing fees is not a viable answer unless the increase in not too great. A better alternative may be to use the 10% on weekends and holiday's but offer a 25% during the week. Here in Ohio, seniors with a Golden Buckeye card receive a 50% discount during the week and 10% on weekends. You would be surprised at the number of seniors using the parks during the week. There use, though at a discounted rate, helps to support the park. It's the same reasoning as cheap seats on airlines. The plane has to fly anyway, may as well get a few bucks for that seat than fly it empty.

While I see both sides also, I believe cutting the discount from 50% to 10% is a little excessive. I could get along with a 25% discount, and keep my incentive to camp at US campgrounds. However, I must also say that getting a discount of 10 cents per dollar is not much of an incentive to travel a little further and camp at the federal facility, especially inlight of the cost of fuel to get there. But that's another craw in my bonnet.
