This past fall we visited the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown NY. Just outside of town on Hwy 80 is the NY Farmers Museum. When I asked if they gave a military discount I was told that active and retired got in free. First time that ever happened.

I ask for the military discount at Lowes whenever I make a large purchase. Most of the time the clerk will say " Thank you for your service"

I asked at Menards, which is right by a large AFB and was told no. I said to them that Lowe's and Home Depot do and would they match that. The answer was, "No, we don't give a military discount because we don't want to discriminate against anyone."
Really-that's your best answer! I told him I would be shopping at Lowe's and Home Depot from now on.

Most of you probably know this and already do this but for those of you starting out RV'ing, as we travel this great country of ours we find discounts to be generous when a base is close by and many times my husband is asked if he is a military retiree when we are checking out at a store or paying at a restaurant. Some places even have a sign posted at payment area letting you know they give a military discount.
