Four questions on some rv issues

Four questions on some rv issues was created by utmtman
We have a 2005 Holiday Rambler Vacationer and have some problems that I need to know if I should worry, not worry and take to a shop or not.
1. The inside left side of my freeze is bubbling. Freezer works fine but those two lumps are bothering me.
2. My furnace will only work normally if the outside temp is below 40. If its above 40 the furnace will work for five minutes than go out but the fan will continue to run and not shut off.
3. The main board inside says that my grey tanks are full but the outside gauge says they are not. It cannot be the sensors if both places are reading diffferently. Expecially with the gates open to run straight out.
4. Will my converter charge the chassis battery like it does the house batteries or should I start the rv every now and than or put a trickle charger on it?
Any help or suggestion to any or all of these would be appreciated.

Lee,
Can't help you with 1 & 2 but maybe with 3 & 4. We had a 2001 Monaco LaPalma, same coach as the Vacationer, prior to trading for our diesel.
3: The tank monitoring systems that Monaco uses in these coaches are crap. I have a 2007 Monaco Cayman with the two monitors and the one inside never works right. The one in your wet bay is probably closer to being acurate but no guaranty on that either. I can completely empty my tanks with a full flush and the inside monitor will still show the black tank half full.
4: The converter will not charge the chassie battery. The only way it will do that is to have an aftermarket product that hooks your batteries together but I think you must have an inverter/converter for that to work.
For good technical help for Monaco products, which Holiday Rambler is definitely one of, you need to join a group called Monacoers on Yahoo! The link is:
autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Monacoers/
This site is operated by a retired Air Force Colonel who knows more about the Monaco coaches than most Monaco Factory Techs. There are several hundred people on there that post routinely and there is a lot of good technical knowledge.

Thanks for the info. I am a member of a holiday rambler and a workhorse group but they were not much help. I did send an email to holiday rambler for tech help and hope to hear back today.

Lee,
Another way to go for the chassis battery is to put a trickle charger on it when you are parked. Many of the folks on the Monacoer's group have done this with good results.

I found something today called triklstart that hooks to the house batteries and the chassis battery to charge the chassis battery. I am going to look into buying that.

Why not simply put a small solar panel on the roof to trickle charge the chassis battery? Most motorhomes already come with a small solar panel to trickle charge the house batteries.
The longest we've parked has been 6 months and have never had problems with the chassis battery. I'm not charging it when sitting still. However, just in case there is a problem, my rig has a jumper switch to start the motor home using the house batteries.
No advice on the other 3 issues, other than our tank level gauges don't work (most of the time) either. For black tank - I can see down the toilet. For gray, I pretty much know my limit is 12-14 days when dry-camping. But when it backs up through the shower, it's full. Early warning is when it starts to smell.
