Buying portable Air compressor

Wanting to purchase air compressor to use when rving - portable and light weight, and isn't gonna fall apart the first time we use it. Thought I would get feedback before I go looking.Have to get the rv ready so we can take it out mid June, haven't had it out since last Aug. :-[ Uncle Sam keeping my better half away!Advise please!!

I'm also interested in this topic. I would add that the compressor needs to put out at least 100 pounds. Diesel users probably need it to put out 120 - 140 pounds.

I currently have an on-board 12V electric compressor and storage tank in my Jeep. This is mainly for off-road use. But it only puts out 85 pounds. Not enough for the motor home.

I was in COSTCO the other day and they had a very small and rugged looking one that I was tempted to get and try out. Price was only $48.00 and from what I could tell, it looked like it would work decent on RV tires. I have a diesel pusher, and have not tapped into the onboard air brake line. A bit hesitant, as I don't want to screw up that system, and the manifold is in a difficult place to get to and tap off of.

I have one I used to carry when we drove a gas rig. I bought it at Home Depot several years ago. It has a 1.5hp motor and a 3gal air tank. It will go up to 120psi, which was plenty for any RV tires. I don't carry it anymore since the diesel pusher is already set up with air and has a built in connection that works off the front air compressor.

I bought one of those little two gallon tank jobs that can give me pressure to 100 lbs to fill my rv tires.

If you have a diesel pusher and want to use the air on the rig, that is fine but just remember that you have to start the engine and run it while you use the compressor and that will raise the air bags and then you have to let the air out to level again. Also it is slow on the last several pounds you pump. You use diesel while you are checking the tires and airing them up.

I bought a pancake compressor from Sears that will go up to 150 lbs. and it works great for me. I can also use it to blow out the gas chamber on the fridg. I use the park power to power it. They cost about $150.00.
