We got a portable electric from Home Depot and it serves all our needs. Came in handy on a few occasions during our recent trip. Had to put the fake spare on our car and guess what???? It was flat. Used the portable and filled it. I also use it to keep the RV tires inflated where I want them. It is also quiet compared to the lesser cheapo units from other places.

Got me one of these at Northern Tool a few years ago. I keep it full for top offs. Works great. Fits in my truck tool box.

I've got a couple from Sears: a 12 volt version that is rated at 250psi and an electric one that is rated at 120psi. Both work great and were prided in the $30-60 range. Will probably rely on the AC model when traveling. Can use the exterior outlet on the rig if parked or use the generator if needed on the road somewhere.
