Which has the best nationwide programs -- and best reception??? particularly on the outlying areas, like the national parks.

Which brings a Q -- you need 110v if you do satellite ?? Is that correct - so HU or generator all the time?? This stuff don't do 12v, does it??

An installer told me that Dish has more problems. One, they have problems if the user does NOT use the larger coaxial cable. Didn't know there were two sizes, but there are. Two, he said that with Dish the beam has to be almost dead on, where as DirecTV is far more forgiving. I noticed this at the marina where brother in law has a boat. 99.9% Direct as they do not loose reception with small wave motion.
Dish had a lawsuit about their east and west coast feeds for RV'ers, but it has been settled, and a Directv vender at the fair a couple months ago stated that Directv was having a battle about the same issue.
The power usage for the receiver has been un-noticeable to me when on battery and using the converter, but have not used it but twice and not for extended time.
Either one should be about equal as far as reception once you are zero'd in.

SO, if you have Dish, you need Dish dish ... and if you have DirecTV you have DirecTV dish???

Or is it that you just have a dish and then any service is usable on it??

And so does Vu Cube work with either one??

A dish is a dish, the receiver is the difference. I asked this same question last week on the RVNET and was told that the dish was the same, just the receiver and the sattelite. As you may notice the VUE CUBE and any RV rooftop dish is the same.

M44:

I have DirecTV DVR plus HD. I could not be happier with DirecTV. I have been a customer for 16 years with no problems whatsoever. We have the 5lnb dish that is very easy to set up.

If you get to Onslow before you make your decision stop by and I will show you all about it.

Am leaving Wednesday for a short trip - month or so - and am heading that way with no destinations in mind specifically. But, if the nose of my truck ends up in Onslow, then I'll take a look - I'm wrapping up this next few months to go full-time, pretty much for awhile. But will be back and forth to the Cape over this winter taking care of family business so don't really know when I'll be where due to scheduling. But I will be out of the snow and cold and in the south most of this winter, for sure.

Is Onslow full all the time, or easy to get a site during Nov/Dec ? Only for a few days, not long-term.
