We have a 2007 GMC Sierra Duramax Diesel with 6 speed Allison trans, crew cab, 4wd, long bed pulling a 2009 Carriage. Total package weighs in at 22,700#. Plus, we have kayaks on the roof... Wind resistance is mainly what kills our mileage. We've gotten as high as 12.5 without the wind, but normal is 9.5 - 10 at 65MPH. Like others, we try to keep the RPMs at 2k or below if terrain allows.

We have a 2004 Forest River Tsunami (40 ft) motorhome, pulling a 2003 Toyota Tundra, loaded with a 2005 Honda Goldwing. On pretty level ground, we figured about 9+ MPG (diesel). I was suprised!

We have an 2006 Winnebago View, 24' Class C, on a Sprinter chassis, powered by a 5 cylinder Mercedes Diesel engine. I have gotten as high as 20 mpg. That was during a 200 mile run along highway 98, at 55 mph, in the Florida Panhandle. We didn't have our car with us on that trip. Going slow seems to make a big difference, guess I should try it more often. Normally running without the towed vehicle, at 62-64, we get 17 to 18 mpg. Towing our 2009 Subaru Forester, about 3300 lbs, we get 14 mpg. Now on those windy days the mph will drop 2 to 3 mpg.

We have the 2006 45' Tiffin Zephyr with 4 slides with 500HP Cummings and tow a 2002 GMC Envoy. We drive the speed limit and get anywhere between 6 and 7 MPG.

Just returned from 2 weeks in Florida, MacDill. Have a ford 460 engine in a 35 foot Class A. Was getting 6 miles per gallon, but was also running way too fast, in the 70's, pulling a toad. Slowed down, due to a rude awakening, now run around 60 - 65 continously, am getting 7.5 to 7.8 per gallon. Slower speeds increase your milage, also, makes things much safer. Motorhomes, (most) are not build for speed. From someone who's been there, done that.
