Disabled vets who cannot work have a hard time affording many Famcamps. I opt for state campgrounds because they give a 50% discount. Always nice to go to a Famcamp because my spouse is retired military and 100% disabled and he enjoys the interaction. But the fees make it difficult. Where I live MCG's are large and seem to do extremely well financially. I think it should be about providing a benefit for the people with ID's not making a lot of money. That extra money does not always go to the campground.

Interesting statement, I live part-time in Jacksonville FL and never knew state parks here give 50% off for DAVs. Something to remember.

But, even at half-off, the state parks are not much different than MCGs, in Florida most MCGs are under $20 and state parks about $17 even if half-off - that doesn't seem enough of a difference, with base commissary and other benefits available, and security plus the brotherhood-sisterhood of the vets. $3 isn't much difference.

And if you travel much - some MCGs in other states run $12-$15 and some give Golden Age or DAV discounts. So, at this point - subject to political interference - we have pretty good fees until we get to places like California, which seems bitten by the Golden Goose bug and raised prices only rich folks can afford. But despite some areas higher price points, MCG as a whole are pretty good value. Hope we can keep it that way...

I have not encountered this either because it's also just two in my rig. A buck is pretty cheap considering that private CGs can charge up to $5/per extra persons just to visit you for part of the day.

There are extra utility expenses incurred by the CG when there is more than the usual two people in a RV. To me, it seems a reasonable business decision as long as the fee is also reasonable.

I do agree that it would be appropriate for there to be a notice of this additional fee on the website. Perhaps a tactfully done ICE report can make that happen.

Enjoy your stay. It's one of the top FamCamps in the system.

We pay $12 a night at Hillsborough State Park and that includes a swimming pool. You have to be 100%.

That would mean $24 a night for state parks, is it the same for all parks in FL, or are some different?

Must be some different because we paid $28 a while ago in Gainesville, before we became FL residents.

Maybe different for residents, tourists, and vets 100%?

All parks have different fees in the state of Florida. We get 50% discount due to spouse being 100% disabled vet.
