The only thing wrong with being retired is that you never get a day off!

Y'all are right on the money about this site! Seems like the printed version is always out of date with information. It looks like it's only updated about once every 4 - 5 years (except for the ads...those are updated yearly! :woohoo: )
With all of us traveling around, we have the most up to date information and Larry is fantastic about updating the site with the latest poop.

I don't think it's the facility, it the RVers there, some folks don't want a tent near their $100K motorcoach and that is their problem that should not include your benefits as a Veteran, stay the course and keep getting whats yours.

We have been using Military campgrounds for over 14 years now and have never heard any comments from other RVers that do not want tenters there. When we asked some of the campgrounds why they do not have tent sites the response was "not enough demand for them and they can charge more for an RV site". As we use campgrounds that have tent sites I must say the tent sites usually are not occupied and those of us who are creeping into our golden years might just prefer our beds.

We just stayed 10 days at Oak Grove Park (NAS Pensacola. They have a very large tent area and only 1 tent occupied space there for a couple of days. The only other occupant was a van camper. I have no problem parking next to a tent or any other type camping equipment. It's not the equipment type that causes problems, it's the people occupying them. It makes no difference what you are in, if you are a slob, you are a slob.

Stayed at MacDill a few times int he RV when it wasn't overloaded with 'long-term' - Which it is most of the winter, and with the same RV that reserve the same sites winter after winter, like they own them.
MacDill is one of the largest and most abused MCG ...
But, when the sites are full, we stayed several times in the tent area - no big deal, nice sites. We just parked and use the water, and camped in the RV instead of setting up a tent.
Now, here's the weird part - security came by and said, "You can't RV here, you can only tent." Even tho I was parking in the park space and not on the grass.
So, because Monkey sometimes goes in to NP areas where we hike in a overnight camp, we whipped out our tent, set the tent up in three minutes, and viola, have our tent site. Then climbed back in the RV.
Security stood around for a few minutes, scratching his head, and so I said, "It's a tent, it's set up, what else?" He got in his truck and left and we never saw him again for three days and we checked out. Go figure !!
