Don't see how they can shut the highways running through Death Valley, they are either NV State or CA State highways. The campground at Stovepipe Wells is a private one I believe, but all the ones at Furnace Creek and Mesquite springs are NPS. They might block off all the gravel and dirt roads though.

Word came down from the US Dept of Agriculture around 1430hrs (10/2) to close ALL Forest Service campgrounds. Even those operated by concessionaires. So we are also closing all campgrounds by noon Friday and kicking everyone out. The National Park Service (Dept of Interior) has already closed all of their operations and concessionaires. All of their stores, visitor centers, campgrounds, etc are also closed. Death Valley is among these. The roads will be open, but no services.

I'm noticing today that congress is now going to PAY the government workers while the shut-down is engaged.
So, why not send them back to work if we're paying them? Open the parks, and collect the revenue at least.
Never seen such a ridiculous situation in all my years alive...
