Army National Guard Officer Eligibility was created by blmitt
My ARNG ID shows expiration as Indefinite as I was a Captain at the time I concluded my Service. Have sent emails to Military Campgrounds (2) requesting eligibility information without luck. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Keys are 1, what form number is on the ID and 2, the color. DD Form 2's are issued to all branches of the service.

From what you said, I can't tell if you just kept your ARNG ID card when you were discharged or if your status changed to retired or some other continuation of your service. If the military checked your ID would it show you be a current member of the ARNG? These days they scan ID's when you come aboard.

I concluded service 1993 and was told as an officer I will always be subject to call back and that is why it is marked indefinite. My card is red. Sure would be nice to be able to find out from the VA website or direct, but with all their issues responding to Veteran care I don't think this should be a priority for them. Thanks for your help. If the form number is a key, where do you find information on sorting it out on your own?

Card form number is on the back of the card. Red or Pink designates Reserve/NG and not eligible for retired benefits - I believe.

Did you complete twenty good retirement years and receive a letter notifying you of this? If you did and are under the age of 60, you would become a “grey area” retiree. The would make you eligible for Exchange, Commissary and MWR privileges. No retired pay or medical benefits until age 60. If you are a “grey area” retiree you need a new ID card showing your status and it will have an expiration date on your 60th birthday. That ID card will be good until age 65 at which time you change to Tricare for Life and Medicare and then will be issued another ID card which will be Indefinite.
If you are not in a “retired status”, you are probably not eligible for any military privileges. As far as the VA, if all you time was in the Reserve Components, you don’t exist to the VA.
