We were having a problem with people staying at Foster Creek RV Park in the Charleston, SC area. There were several homesteaders who were not military, but were here long term. They had a relative who was military that rented the space and then they pulled in and set up. The situation was resolved when we got a new park host and he raised a stink with the MWR office. If there was no military person in the trailer and the person living there was not a dependent of the person who rented the spot they needed to vacate. So far we haven't had any other problems.

We stay at the RV Park at NAS, Jacksonville, FL a lot because our kids and grand kids live in the area. One time our next door neighbors was a civilian couple with no government connections except a son who was an E5 living in the near by base housing. He had done his homework and made the site reservations in his name. When his parents arrived at the gate in their motor home he was there to meet them and arrange for passes for their motor home and toad. They were also issued temporary guest picture ID cards for their length of stay. This allowed them to enter and exit the base without their son’s presents. They could also use common areas on the base that do not require an ID card such as the Mall at the Navy Exchange or the 19th hole restaurant at the golf course. At an off post campground where there is no proof of identification required I would say that the sponsor would still be responsible for their guests.

No where in your posting did you actually say the folks using the trailers were not authorized guests of the authorized person that rented the lots. Should the campground have rented that many lots to one authorized person? That’s sticky without knowing the circumstances or campground rules. According to the official web pages ( www.knoxmwr.com/template.asp?id=48 ) and ( www.armymwr.com/portal/travel/paths/KY.asp#campcarlson ) there is no stay limit. On this site Larry has a 120 day stay limit listed and I’m sure he called to confirm that. So it looks like the manager is not willing to enforce the stay limit and is not being pressured to do so. I’ve read all the reviews and it looks like it is a common practice at this campground for an authorized user to push the envelope for profit. Is it wrong? Morally, yes. Legally, I doubt it. What can you do about it...ICE! ICE! ICE! If we keep ringing the bell someone will answer. So for those of you using this campground you should line up your ducks and fire away at the Post Commander through ICE.
