Retired Canadian Forces

Does anyone know if some of our campgrounds allow Retired Canadian Forces to use them? I know that some of their campgrounds allow us to use theirs. I asked at Adm. Baker Field last year, and they said only as guests. The golf course said they would be welcome, however.

I've been asked this question hundreds of times. There's a FAQ on this same subject. Top insure I properly answered this question, I did a little research.

Officially, the answer is no. Refer to this article for copies of the applicable regulations. You'll see, for every branch of the service and for DoD, the only authorization is for "military personnel of foreign nations and their family members when on orders from the U.S. Armed Forces, or in overseas areas when the major command commander grants privileges in the best interest of the United States."

Thanks for the links Larry, neither of them work however. We all know that the "official" position is often overridden by local commanders though.

Sorry about that - the links now work.

As stated in the FAQ, some military campgrounds will allow military personnel from other countries. But since it's not the "official" ruling, it's a local policy. They can't publicize it. Unfortunately, there's no list of what locations have this local policy. The best bet is to call the campground(s) you're interested in directly to learn the current local policy.
