Don't know as guest of who,, I'm guessing (seeing how I'm not going to go ask) that it has something to do with the fact that Macdill has almost as many foreign forces (Canadian being very visiable) stationed here as US troops. Beats me but another couple (retired) checked in yesterday..Plus we have access to several Canadian CG's,, Hope they enjoy.

You know, if all the retired guys and everyone else that was 'entitled' to the campground use just played by the realistic 'sharing' rules, then we wouldn't be having this pissing contests, would we? Because there would be room for everyone some of the time instead of some guys all of the time...

I'm not trying to be rude by perusing an answer here. What has been posted here about foreign military retirees is a very unusual circumstance. Retired foreign military personnel are not extended the privileges of being allowed to use our campgrounds or any other facilities. It is not in DoD or any of the services authorizations directives. For me (and probably lots of other readers) it's another act of erosion to our benefits/privileges. All sorts of other questions pop into mind. Like, what sort of identification is required for them to freely come and go on such a large and heavily used base? Is it because the AF has done away with any sort of base sticker? MacDill's Campground is always in the spotlight because of their reservation and long extended use policy which causes all sorts of complaints during the peak use season. To me, extending the usage of any MWR facility beyond guests of authorized users is unacceptable.

The person that started this topic here has also started it in another military forum. In my reply in that other forum I actually used a reference to MacDill before it popped up here. If you are a browser of Military forums you will see that I also use FastEagle there. If this string continues to get high visibility I'll copy my comments at the other forum - verbatim - and post them here.

p.s. While traveling in ND we had a sister and brother-in-law traveling with us. Because of a higher security condition they were required to get finger print ID cards to gain access to Grand Forks AFB with us as our guests and they are Americans with passports and drivers licenses in hand.
