Well you need to visit a few more maddog because some are down right dismal. Charleston AFB comes to mind. Even calls itself an RV park when throughout the AF FAMCAMP is the name.

I don't think you will see tenting prosper in the future. Gray water dumping is becoming a problem even in remotely located campgrounds. I often wonder why an RV cannot dump grey water when there are tenters present.

Fort Story which is under Little Creek MWR is $18.00 reguardless rv or tent. The listing on Paths is outdated.

Charleston AFB - Shady Oaks FAM Camp
RV Pads 17 W/E $10.00
Tent Sites 6 W/E $10.00

I just believe that MWR should be on the same page nation wide. Reguardless if USAF, USCG, USN, USA. Also if one MWR accepts the Golden Age Pass all should.

Although that would be nice for all of us, I can't even imagine that ever happening - not even the individual service branches are on the same page ... how could all military get on the same page - they're not even in the same book !!

And although I don't tent camp much anymore, it would be a very sad day when MWR decides RV's are more important than tents - tents IS camping ... RV's are not camping, at least not in my book ... don't get me wrong, I love my RV and will never go back to tents ... but let's face it, tent is tent, RV is RV -- and they'e both completely different worlds. HA, and most of the time different ages too ... :)

While this idea may "sound" nice, I don't think it's a good idea. There's TOO much difference in the quality of the campgrounds. I've been to military campgrounds worth $5 a night, and some that were NOT worth the $25 a night. There's too much inconsistency among them. Some have 50 amp electric, some have none.

The only way they could all be the same price, is if they are all of the same quality, offer the same amenities, etc.

It would be nice if they all had the same no homesteading rules. :side:
