Military Campgroungs Standards
Recently, I contacted the editor of the new papper at Fort Jackson SC. To inform him the MC.com ratting for Fort Jackson, was the loweset ratted camp ground on the east coast. He forward it to the commander, who had the MWR cheif call me. He informed me 1.2 million is now being spent on the camp ground to up grade their camp ground with 21 new concrete pads. Allso they will be up dateing their regulations. Now, you can not put in a reservation, no limit on stay. Please call Dan to put in your advise as I will. We can make a difference, it may take a while. But we must keep trying. CPT Joe

Thank you so much every one, for your comments. After taking in all what you have commented on. I made it a point to leave comments on Military Camp Grounds comment site. Each time we stay at a military cammp ground. For the most part, I think it has helped.

This is GREAT news! I always wondered if this website was having any impact. I always felt is was, but don't receive much feedback from MWR.

We discussed this one (or more) other times too, and the ones that have it seem to keep it - others keep the sites open for everyone, as it should be. At least some limit, if a RV is waiting, or even couple months with renewal is no one waiting, but not six months that's too much like 'home-stead' a site ...
This MCG is a great system and a great benefit for all, and we should all share it.

quick question about camp host we arrived after hours and our camp host was so helpful in getting us set up, took us around park and let us choose our site, spent time with us going over rules and good local places to eat etc. would like to do something nice for him. is there a "policy" on tipping, is it considered rude to do so or not to do so or a token of appreciation?
I'd send him a note or make it an in-person 'thanks' - once we start tipping, every host will expect it, even the ones that don't deserve or earn it ... most get a site free, so that's in the bargain - like a job, sorta, in a way. Just that some do the job better than others.

I agree with Monkey44 about tipping, but here's another suggestion:
Submit an ICE comment about him to the Command Group. Besides getting the Camp Host an official "attaboy" it will probably shock the hell out of 'em getting a GOOD comment for a change!
It might also bring some positive attention to the campground that could translate into, hopefully, better consideration come budget time.
The only thing wrong with being retired is that you never get a day off!
