Well Shame On Me. I said I would get back with an update and forgot. We did stay there in July and had a nice visit. The campgrounds is nothing to write home about but the location is superior and adequete. Water / Electric no sewer. We were there for 3 nights and would certainly go back again. Convienent to all Newport stuff to do and if you need any base facilities it's right down the road. The registration is all done by mail. No host present and the campgrounds is outside of the base security perimeter. There are only 6 sites and they will assign you your site # when you receive your confirmation in the mail.
Go to Newport and enjoy all the town has to offer. We did and will do so again.
They've been talking for years about upgrading that MCG, but guess it ain't been done yet. Haven't stayed there in years, and had to go up the hill to a nearby campground and PAY to dump.
