We have a whole bunch of DOD bases in Central Pa with lots of open space on each one of them. In Mechanicsburg, you have the Naval Inventory Control Point which is strategically located with 2 hours of just about everything you need to see and do.
1. Gettysburg is .5 hours away.
2. Hershey is .25 hours away.
3. Lancaster/Amish Country is .75 hours away.
4. D.C. is 2 hours away.
5. Beautiful country views are everywhere.
6. The fall color changes are abound.
7. Museums everywhere, to include the Army Heritage Center in Carlisle.
8. Knoebles park is 1+ hours away.
9. Not to mention all the TDY assignments that go along with each one of these installations.
The list is endless. Who would one contact, or does anyone have past experiences with requesting an RV park to be built on one of these DOD installations?

Check with MWR, not only on the making of a new campground/RV Park, but perhaps they already have one. With the help of users like you, we've identified over 20 "secret" U.S. Military Campgrounds. These are usually not well know, or not advertised military campgrounds.

It has been about 5 years since we were in this area and it would be super if a military RV Campground was found or built there. Usually go to the Carlisle Barracks for shopping and ventured to Ft.Indiantown Gap on one visit and talk about land available for a campground. Hope to get to Pa. later this year and if we do will see what we can find out about an existing campground we may not know about or plans for a new one.

Letterkenny was great but it was BRACed.. we gave it away.. drove by the CG a year after it closed, hadn't been touched.. coffee pot & magazines still on the community room table..

Yep, no Military CGs in PA , but our seasonal campground offers 30amp/water with dump station at $25/night about 8 miles from downtown Gettysburg....nice and quiet....no internet or cell service, yet...but if visiting the battlefield with Carlisle Barracks about 25 miles away, it perfect for touring the area sights....Open mid-April until Nov. 1st....let me know if you are interested and I'll get ya' the contact info...
Other campgrounds in the area around Gettysburg run ya' between %35-$50/night, so it's a great deal....

I'm new to this website and I'm looking for a good RV campground near Gettysburg. I would appreciate any info. Thanks, Mike.
