We decided to stop by here on my birthday without a reservation, they were booked up but the office hostess Meredith worked a plan for us to dry camp which was cool and also the temps were in the 70s so no ac or generator running was needed, thanks Meridith for the support. I still see many family campgrounds have homesteaders and also this one, who needs to stay more than 3 weeks in one place in an RV...
We stayed here for the Memorial Day holiday weekend the CG was full and very peaceful and very spacefull between sites. You have Full Hookups plus Cable, Water Country, Busch Gardens and Colonial Wiliamsburg is within 5 miles from the base, Easy access to I-64 and shopping. I made a 360 degree view of the campground on our You Tube channel Max1Chase1 and look for Cheatam Annex New Campground In Williamsburg, Va., also see other videos of Key West and...
1. First and foremost BIG KUDOS to Loretta you can't touch her positive and excited attitude, she express to everyone and everything she does all of the time. 2. We arrived at Sigbee around 11:30 PM after we past the gate twice, so that tells you to arrive in the daylight hours if possible, if not look for the Blue Lagoon and turn right there, The MPs at the gate were courteous and did their checks and we were on...
We were late leaving Va due to snow and while we were on the road, the Mgr called us to see if we were lost and any problem on how to get to the CG, I was very impressed with her doing that because most CGs would mark you down as a No Show, but she get extra KUDOs for going beyond the call of Duty. We arrived there around 11:30 and the guards at the gate were very helpful...
Location is excellent for on post beaches and off-post beaches, Hookups are unacceptable for the location for the length of stay over a week, Foliage is ok but they are far behind on trimming and for anyone who has an expensive MH with the clear coating, well look to have it scratched up. This campground gives you the feeling they cater to popups and smaller trailers, Access roads and throughout the CG should at least have gravel and potholes filled....
This Military campground is excellent, it is truly a hidden jewel,(Butch) one of the Hosts there met us as we came in and directed us to our site and asked if we needed any assistance with backing in. The Campground has added a Saturday Cookout to the festivities for all the RVers there which gives you the meet and greet feel and to meet other RVers (Good Idea). The pathway to the beach is boarded and off the ground (excellent)....
This campground has did a 180 degree flip, the homesteaders have been ordered to move on and now equal access to other RVers have granted. They also have a rental trailer section already setup for visitors without an RV. I know I rated this campground hard before but since my last visit I have a change of heart and has already made reservation to return in Sept for my wife's birthday. Good location to the PX, gyms, recreation facilities. Thanks...
I have been waiting for them to cut the overgrowth bushes back which extend over all the roadways, I have a 36'FW and there is no way I want to scratch the paint graphic trying to get to a site, The Director is aware of the issue and has informed the Mgr but to no avail. Nice access to Ft Story club, beach and Va Beach downtown. all the access roads are dirt, also there are Homesteaders. I have visited...
Some great cosmetic work has been done, along with a 8 foot fence around the CG it looks like a ammo depot, you cannot go in to view the CG without a gate code and I understand security by it being off the installation but access should be given during the daytime hours. but still overall a great looking CG that has come a long way. There is a blind spot around a curve when you decide to leave, I...
Drove by to see what this campground offered, the host was a little cocky and if you didn't ask for specific infomation he didn't offer it. Access to the beach and the beach itself is excellent, Some are Homesteading here as well, roads need work potholes throughout (see photos) other then that nice campground.
Did not stay but was told about it by a friend, good location and by it being an old trailer park there is good spacing between sites and concrete platforms for your unit. Close access to VA Beach and other sites to see on gen Booth Blvd. With some RVer volunteer work on the landscape it can be a very hidden treasure.
We have tried to stay here but it too stays booked, and yes the entrance roads are very narrow and RVers park their vehicles near the edge of the road, site are a bit tight if you have a RV 36 feet or larger and a ground guide is a must. Easy access to PX, CBBT, Hampton Roads areas.
The Campground is not professionally ran, they allow people to stay as long as they want, it should be called a trailer park instead of a family campground, some have been there for 2-3 years, of the 9 sites only 1 is available for using all the others are Home Steading. The Hookups are backwards and they don't have a separate dump station if you Dry Camp, Oh yeah they have people hogging those areas as well, Management has failed...
