I would stop at Manatee Cove at Patrick AFB myself. Exit 188 by Cocoa Beach Florida. Was just there for the first time. Only 8 RV's there and on the water.A lot of empty spots. The base is great. Big exchange and commissary. Only 4 hours to Miami. So leaving there and heading to Keys is a nice ride.

We hope to use Manatee Cove as our first stop on the way home. We would like to try NavSta Mayport, but it will have to wait until our next trip south. We are planning on making this a 17 day trip and want 7 full days in the Keys so we are planning on making it home in 3 days.

Thanks for the input,

Bill

Well, we're back from the adventure. We left for the Keys on 9/26 and returned home on 10/12. We styed in FAMCAMPS at NSB King's Bay, NAS Key West, Patrick AFB, Naval Base Mayport and Dam Neck, VA. All the camps were excellent, but we enjoyed Sigsbee and Pelican Roost in Mayport the best. (We had waterfront sites.) Thank you all for helping me plan this trip. With this success, my wife is now considering an extended western state trip next year.
