dolomoto, we're moving to Fayetteville, Georgia in a couple of weeks. I'm interested in the progress at this location. Have they moved forward with the new campsites?

We were out there last week...Nothing is done...very little is started...big issue with the city of Savannah on the hookup of the sewage to their lines...which has held up progress greatly.....Don't hold your breath on completion any time soon....better to go to Ft. Stewart's Holbrook Pond and drive the 25-30 miles into Savannah at this point....

Was going to stop there last week because I had called a few weeks before and was told the campground was going to have the grand opening on Dec. 15th but when we were in route on the 27th I called and was told the new campground won't be open now until Jan 15th but I could still come if I wanted just water. Will check back in April when we head to Fl again.

Stopped by yesterday (3/29). They are open and there were a few campers in residence. Not all campers were hooked up to sewer, but I did not ask why.
There had been a good bit of rain the night before causing the sites and access road to be pretty muddy. They will need to do something about the standing water. On the way out I met Herschel the CG & marina manager. He seems intent on getting the CG into shape. The rates are $25/day, $140/wk and $600/mo.

$25 a day, that's pretty steep for MCG - does it come with meals and a waiter delivering to your picnic table?
ONly one I know more than that is IN DC, and that is definitely over-priced for the CG, IMHO anyway.

There was a price comparison on the wall of the office. It looks like they priced based on other commercial campgrounds in the area. This is a pretty rough campground at this time. I just drove through so it would be more fair to get comments from someone that has stayed there for a period of time.
Based on the drive through I would prefer the similarly priced campground at Hardeville, SC. It is nearly as close to downtown Savannah and the grounds seemed better kept. Can't speak for the amenities there, but there are none at Lott Island yet other than hook-ups.
