New FamCamp at Dyess AFB. Need Your Feedback!

I've heard a few rumblings of a possible new FamCamp to be installed at Dyess AFB, TX.

The following was posted in the USAF Group on this website and thought it needed more exposure:

Need some feedback! What are you thoughts of a Famcamp here at Dyess AFB, Texas? Right in the heart of Texas in the middle of I20?

We have the final evaluation team coming in and we want to give them some comments from those that travel and use the Famcamps... yes, I am a RVer, but I live here!

An article from March of last year says that the Outdoor Recreation Manager was receiving an award and that he "is currently working on bringing a new FamCamp to Dyess. The FamCamp will be open for active-duty or retired military, DoD civilians and sponsored guests."

I'm trying to find out what the current status is, since that has been over a year ago.

Will let all know what I find out.

Got this from the Public Affairs office:

"As of now, they are only in the planning and requesting approval/funding. As approval is granted and the site becomes more of a reality, we will begin publicizing the new facilities."

A famcamp would be great at Dyess. We have been staying at the VFW and see so much space where Rv's can stay. Hope it works out to get one.

Just wondering if this campground ever got off the ground.
