I think the clock has started ticking...here's a few pics of the survey markers they placed today.

Latest words, folks, is January 2012. That's when the contractors are currently scheduled to take over the Hurlburt Fam Camp area. I'm no longer there, but I keep in contact with the office folks.

I visited Hurlburts Fam Camp the weekend of 6-8 July. I was even more disapointed than my last visit. I commented on Hurlburts ICE website. This is the response I got back from management at outdoor rec:
"If you are speaking of the Famcamp closure, it is not a matter of if but when. I apologize but I can only give out the information which I am given, and that is not a lot. Just yesterday, we had surveyors on site taking measurements for the housing project. Also, we have a contract which just started 09 Jul 2012 to begin construction on our new Famcamp. It will no longer be located on the water but it will be completely new and better facilities. Currently, the new construction does not have as many sites as we have at the Famcamp now but hopefully additional funding will be made available. It will be located on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, which is outside the east gate of Hurlburt Field. We hope to see completion by February 2013."
So, I guess it's "bye-bye" to the potentially beautiful FamCamp located on a beautiful section of water in North West Florida.
