All you have to do is get your new ID card which updates your DEERS, the rest is taken care of. You don't have to notify anyone else. When you receive treatment present your medicare card and your military ID and tell them you are tricare for life.

You will have to show the ID clerk your Medicare card to show that you do, in fact, have Part B. Although you automatically are put in Part B at age 65 people have the option to opt out of Part B. (Due to other insurance situations I have two brothers who did opt out of Part B.) We just recently got my wife changed from Standard TC to TCFL. We just provided the Petty Officer doing ID's her old ID card and her Medicare card and got her a new ID. DEERS was immediately updated and we were on our way.

I'm not sure I understand the issue with ID cards. I was under the impression that when I turn 65 next year that TRICARE will send me a new insurance card that indicates I'm now on Tri Care For Life.

Medicare has sent me no card? But, did take the fee out of my SS check immediately, of course. So, do I wait, and Medicare will send card, or do I go get the card somewhere? Or mail in for it somehow?
