Started out as Oldchief when I first signed on to AOL some years ago. It fit since I was a Chief Petty Officer at the time and was a bit older than my counter parts. Down the road I dropped AOL for awhile and when I went back some retired Chief in New Orleans had the Oldchief screen name. So, I became oldchief1. Have since dropped AOL again but have kept the oldchief1 on my e-mail.
When I started logging on to different sites I found that even the oldchief1 was taken along with oldchief2, 3 and 4. So I went with oldchief46, 1946 being my birth year.
Retired as Chief Yeoman from Naval Reserve in 1993 with just over eight years active and 19 more in the reserves. Worked for the State of Oklahoma until last July 1 when I retired for good. Now that I'm past the age of 60 I'm drawing both retirements and enjoying the benefits.
Rabeow is a carryover from the first days of internet and AOL. When I first signed up we were allowed only 1 screen name. After many, many frustrating tries I combined nicknames. Mine (Bunny or Rabbit) from my wife and hers from me (Kitty or Meow) = Rab eow. I just never changed it and use it for everything since it seems to be unique and I never have found it to be used by anyone else.
I chosse "Nomads" for ovius reason.
we move from coast to coast with no particular destination.
In nam they called me "The Bull". I was a pig handler(M-60 gunner) without assistant gunner.
So I have to hump the bush with all that plus my c-4 plastic explosives. I guess thats why they called me that.
We call the Rv: OurVee the RV(on the front plate), and since the wife has one screen name, I have another, we decided that the 'name' would be easy enough for me to remember when I come here.
We were having trouble keeping track of different user names and passwords so we started using our grand kids name. We use one for username and the other for password.
2 yrs active, 23yrs reserve, home port Norfolk, USS Mullinnix, 1 WESTPAC cruise Retired as OS1. Just couldn't get a handle on the chiefs test. On the civi side recently retired from local utility (elec&gas) with 30 yrs. Also a town counselman for 10 yrs
