Campers Choice Best Military Campground

I read in the Newsletter that there will be no competition for best military campgrounds. I'm disappointed in the decision and realize there must be reasons that led to this end. It seems to me that even though some campgrounds have an advantage because of their location, much more goes into an individuals decision on who to vote for. The best campgrounds also set the bar high for other campgrounds to strive for. I looked forward to each years results and I think that the east coast results of Kingsbay and Naval Station Mayport being either one or two is an accurate assesement after having visited most of the campgrounds. But if the same one wins every time, in part because of it's size or number of sites, then why bother.

IF it had a rule that you can't win twice, then it becomes interesting to see a different winner each year.

Some great campgrounds will NEVER win, no matter how good. We love the NAS in WV, but it only has three sites w/FHU, so will never get votes - but we never miss it when we're in that area. It has about ten additional sites by the creek, but small, difficult for larger rigs, and only W/E, but it's really a getaway. Not many go - but we find it one of the most laid back, restful CGs of all, and believe me, we been to a lot. M44 & Genie

I agree that if a CG wins, let's say 1 or 2 times, then those should be "retired" from competing for a period of time, such as 2 or 3 years....letting others shine threw. There are many smaller CGs out there that are great!! Some with full hookups, but many with just W/E and they work just as hard at making your "camping experience" the very best possible...but since they aren't located near a major highway or tourist town, etc., they can't compete with them.....I'm also for the category of "Most Improved"...cause alot of locations have upgraded things and services and should get recognized for their efforts....but this is just my 2 cents on the subject....but sure will miss the "Best of" contest....

Understand completely the decision to not have the voting again as the ones that are used the most seem to be the ones that win. We are trying several different FamCamps this winter that we have not been to before and will share our experience on this forum as well as a review in the Rec Facility Info section.

They could have different categories of best, ie.. best by beach, in mountains, large, small etc.

Lots of work for multi-categories, and then we'd have a hundred MCGs and a hundred categories, and every one would be a winner - :)

Problem is, no guidelines that fit all NCG's so all are different in some way. Some very good MCGs are small and distant - so, not true competition.
