I have heard of some bases which will allow a ID card person sponsor a civilian but not one that can come in on their own, the risks of liability on the Government is too great such as stealing, fighting, accidents, trips and falls etc.... and that is why a ID card holder can sponsor them only for those reasons.

I feel there are too many lax areas in the military, today. I'm afraid we will pay in the end. The idea of letting anyone on base, and no longer using car stickers, is asking for trouble. There barely look at IDs and I don't have to even show mine when I am in the car with my husband. With the events of last week, I'm afraid we will all be sitting ducks if they don't crack down more. I also notice that their are many vendors, who are from other countries. It seem the Dunken Doughnuts is the worse. Do they go through intense background checks.
I did not think a civilian could take up a space in an RV space, if a retired or active duty person needed a space. Have they done away with this rule. It also was used for DOD personal also who might be in a full park.
I heard they also want to turn the commissaries over to a privately ran company. We saw what happened to our PX's. They now want us to pay for Tricare for life, something that has been promised to the military. I feel this administration would like all bases to open there doors to everyone out of political correctness and fairness to all !! We worked and sacrificed and were respected with promises continued benefits, when we put in our 20. Sorry I had to get that off my chest.
:(

I may take some flak for this but here goes; we all know our current President never served any time in the military and he says he did consider it but chose not to because the Viet Nam conflict was over so he saw no reason to join. In my heart I want to respect this choice but in my mind I believe he does not understand why all of the men and women who were drafted or joined the military were promised certain benefits and entitlements if they chose to spend 20 or more years.

Karylkoch you hit the nail on the head with the political correctness comment, what has happened to our military security since 9/ll and our current President seems to think having open bases will stop terrorist acts?

We are at Aviation Arbor as I mentioned before and this base has tighter security then some of the other bases we have been on and a majority of those stationed here are Joint Reserves.

Ditto, I cannot remember ever shopping at a PX or commisary in the past 10 years where they didn't check my ID when I checked out
