QUOTE: "I also got a Pilot/Flying J credit card and as a Good Sam Life member, it saves 9 cents a gallon on diesel. The problem with Pilot/Flying J is that they are often more than 9 Cents higher than many other stations."

Right, the same problem with a lot of "gimme backs" ... up the price, then give a "discount" for whatever it is they sell, but less. Like a small scale car dealer, raise the price $3000, give you $2500 off, and tell you it's a deal. Then, watch the old nose grows in inch each time they say it.

That is why I went with generic credit card for fuel, travel vs a specific gas card. But as to Pilot Fly J being higher must be from wherever the guy lives as we just returned from a 4500 mile trip and they were very competitive in prices. Only way they could be higher is if they are only station in town. We ran into a similar problem in Ky, needed fuel N of Louisville and only station was $4.90/gal for regular! Up road another little bit it was a little cheaper but not much. Chicago has diesel 2 for less than regular by about the same amount as it is normally higher!

TA is associated with shell and has a .03 off deal if you have their fuel card. No requirement for a shell card. But in years of using a 'rewards' card we have gotten 4 TV's, 1 all in HP printer and some other stuff. 2 of the tv's cost about $25 each as I was short of the rewards but there was no other costs involved. The cash back on the Amerexcuse at costco is limited to purchases at costco!

This is only applicable in the WalMart stores in the southern states and some southwestern states like TX and OK where they sell fuel via the Murphy gas station. You can buy their Prepaid Gas card which typically gives 5 cents off/gallon, I have seen that reach as high as 10 cents during promotions. They also have a gas credit card that offers a bit more off per gallon. If you are a Sam's Club member you will pay their reduced price plus get an additional discount by using the Walmart card to pay.

Sam's Club is typically easily accessible for refueling, but WalMart stations are a bit tight for larger rigs
even tho the diesel pumps are on the end,

We do too, amazing that sometimes we find a station within a 1/2 mile of another that are 10 cents or more per gallon cheaper. Have saved a lot of money with this app, even with the car at 15 gallons.

Just a heads up. We got a PenFed Card and everything is in place for the full 5% on fuel; HOWEVER, if you pay inside (and not at the pump) the coding is different and it will not get 5%. Even if it's fuel. This is according to a PenFed Rep. I suspect the other cards that offer a higher rate on fuel are similar.
