The only thing wrong with being retired is that you never get a day off!

It's good to see everybody getting out and around. With the fuel prices down, it looks like a bunch of folks are getting away rather than staycations in their immediate area.
I just got back from a week at Ft Fisher in North Carolina with the grandkids. We had a great time and I'm using this week to clean out the camper and get some rest! Sunday morning I'm pulling out for the Left Coast...first stop Arlington, Texas to visit some friends.
Happy travels!

Whew...it's been a really busy couple of weeks. This touristing can wear you out!
I've been running pretty hard since I was on here last. Spent a week in the Dallas - Ft Worth area catching up with friends and touring some of the sights. I left there and spent a few days in Roswell, NM. I needed a place to stop and Roswell was about halfway. Oh, OK...I wanted to see some aliens!
Left there and spent some time in Monument Valley, UT. It was the first time I had been there and I really enjoyed it. I took a half day Navajo tour and it was worth it. The guide we had was very knowledgeable and pointed out stuff off the beaten path to us.
From there I went to Moab, UT and toured Arches and Canyonland National Parks. Another first for me, and again well worth the time there. The scenery is unbelievable and the parks are very well maintained. (As a side note, if you're going to tour the National Parks and you're 62 or older, get the America the Beautiful Senior Pass. It only costs $10 at any National Park and it saves you a bundle in entrance fees.)
The next stop on my tour was Glendale, UT...about halfway between Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks. My tour of Bryce Canyon was cut a little short when the skies opened and the rain started! I waited for a little while, but it lasted the rest of the day.
Well, tomorrow it's off to Vegas for a week at Nellis AFB! I need a rest and it's a good a place as any to stop and recharge!
I'm posting some pictures if anybody wants a taste of what's going on in my world!
Happy travels, everyone!
John

We've been in Florida for 8 months. Lonny had triple bypass surgery January 13th. We are finally back on the road again! We stopped in Milton at the NAS Whiting Field famcamp and now are at Shields RV Park at the Seabees Base in Gulfport MS. Going to see the kids and grandkids in New Orleans LA and Lawton OK. Then head up through Missouri to Illinois to pick up a friend and head to Sevierville TN for a reunion of USMC Vietnam Veterans early September. We have reunions in different locations every 18 months. Semper Fi! After the reunion we're going to a bucket list state Minnesota before leisurely heading back to Florida for Thanksgiving.
