Laughlin AFB is no longer accepting new campers with the first positive virus victim.
Additionally, nearby Lake Amistad Rec Area is officially closed until 240003APR20. No camping, boating or fishing.

JBSA went to Threatcon C Sunday, their little cdr critical decision matrix showed MWR facilities as red meaning closed. I would not leave Shields.

You know Teton I’m with to a point, it is a benefit we all earned. Outside the virus ( where the stay in place ought to cover current campers) however it has been a challenge to visit areas using the current hodgepodge military camp system. All of Florida was taken...NOV-FEB. All of it. We saw Floridians (retirees and others) in Georgia because every campground (military included) was filled. Active duty and dependents should be first priority. Homesteaders clearly have the advantage. And it was darn frustrating to find a place for my family regardless of reservations or not. Super maximum fire for effect frustrating. We were blessed however and found nights here and there next to joe retiree with his outside fridge, furniture, toys, grill, ice box, gazebo, oil pan, tool box, tires sunk into the dirt, grass growing in between his junk, etc. living like he owned the battle space. We visited one base that had it right, Gulfport NCBC or Pelican Roost where you could reserve limited number of nights in a row per 365 days. Nobody wants your CPAP and guarantee we want you to have juice for it and we short time visitors would like to stay too, there has to be a balance.
