Air Force Frequent Camper Program

I'd be more than happy to pay for the package and give back the book. It is so full of errors and is out of date the moment it comes off the press.
I wrote to the HQ USAF services people and asked them to consider substituting the software available here for the book. Of course, I have heard nothing.
So far I have tried Tinker, Hurlburt Field, Keesler and Tyndall all without success. Anybody have any suggestions?

Glenn,
Desert Eagle at Nellis AFB has Frequent Camper Kits available. I make it my "mission" to keep kits on hand. It does take awhile to receive them. The first time I ordered in 2003, we waited 9 months. We were down to our last 5 kits. We were concerned, so many of our guests would come in and inquire if we have them, since visits to other FamCamps had been unsuccessful. It is true that HQ was waiting for the Military Campground book to be delivered to them, before they could fill our order. The same goes for our present order placed last year.

I agree that a CD/software would be less expensive and much more cost effecient on shipping as well. Those without computers could pick up a hard copy (booklet) at the BX, PX, or Outdoor Recreation.

However, I do believe this issue of a CD/Software needs to be directed to Military Living, being they are the ones that publishes the Campground book. Perhaps we can all address Military Living with hopes of a reply. Hmm

Patience is a virtue on this one, again, it is a wonderful program and it sure helps when one is on a "fixed income" and traveling. The one time purchase of this Life Time Membership is only $25.00 and it is one of the greatest!

If anyone has questions on how the program works, I would be happy to reply!

Happy Traveling, Keep it Safe!

Any chance I could send you a check and you could mail or FedEx a packet to me. I'd be MORE than happy to pay the postage and whatever charges you might incur.

I can tell you that Military Living won't ever come out with a CD and I wouldn't buy it if they did. The best military campground software in the universe right now is the CD copy of this site--and it is in direct competition with Military Living.

See ya down the road,
Glenn

I've emailed the manager of the Frequent Camper Program numerous times offering him a complimentary evaluation copy of the U.S. Military Campgrounds Directory software on CD-Rom (the retail version). I hoped he would at least take a look and consider including it as an option to the Frequent Camper Program membership packets. Of course I'm biased, but I see many advantages to using the CD-Rom. Besides lower costs, the computer program is update monthly!

But alas, no response over the past 3 months of inquiries. :'( Perhaps someday......

Now I just hope I get my third tier "Camper Cash" coupons soon. That's only been 3 weeks in waiting.

On the "build a better mousetrap" theme I found it interesting that Dr. Gattling offered his repeating gun to the War Department near the start of the Civil War. Gen. Montgomery Meigs, Quartermaster General of the Army, turned him down. His reason--the gun fired too fast and it would be difficult to supply it with enough ammunition to keep it firing.
Eventually, after the war, the Army got a round TUIT and made it part of the frontier inventory.
Perhaps I should send the Frequent Camper program manager a round TUIT. I have sent him a note and, like you, have heard nothing in return.
Keep up the good work.

Glenn,

Sorry, in order to complete the purchase process, signatures (yours) on each coupon and stamp (from us) is required.

Perhaps when you plan on visiting another FamCamp down the road, you could call ahead and see if they have any available. If they do, they, would be happy to hold one for you and present it upon your arrival?

Good Luck
