Reservation policy in general

I'm thinking the American Revolution was alot more involved than trying to get a reservation for a MWR camping spot. Maybe Gen Washington got his boats to cross the Delware at "Gear Issue".... I'm not going to worry a whole lot about any of it.

Martin64 QUOTE "...I'm not going to worry a whole lot about any of it."
I see you're pretty new here on this board ... we've had some pretty "lively" discussion here about the policy of reservations, and homesteading, and sharing the benefit of MCGs. And don't get me wrong, all of us enjoy the MCG no matter what each management does.
And yeah, the Revolution was a bigger deal, but at what level do you draw the line about use or loss of the benefits you earned ... If you have medical, do you let the rules change so only the most destructive disease gets treated, and if you only break your arm, it's too minor to get care.
But, I'd wonder if you'd be so passive if you drove your rig up to a MCG after several days on the road and found it was full of campers that had been there for about six months, and were trying to make it a permanent home to "save money" and the management told you the MCG was full and you had to get back on the road.

I have to agree with Martin64 on this one. When I entered the military I did not think about a 23 year career and certainly did not think about using military campgrounds. After retiring from my position from USAA at age 52 I started RV'ing and realized how fortunate I was to be able to use the military campgrounds. Like everything else in life we do not always get what we want and I appreciate the access I have to any and all campgrounds. I do not worry about it either as life is too short and I doubt no matter how many voices are heard we will not change anything significant. This topic certainly does create some "lively" discussion and imagine my comments will too.

We're all right here, each with an opinion, and all entitled to the benefits - I just believe in equal sharing, that's my stake in it. And those that abuse that sharing don't deserve it.
Most of you guys did more time than me, because I got injured and a medical discharge type early retirement. But, I still believe that sharing the benefits makes it available to each one of us that earned it, however we earned it. We all did our time and made the sacrifices that allow this country to remain a great place to live. And I'd go back and do it again in a hot minute if that freedom ever came into jeopardy.

You gotta choose your battles according to your priorities.....and if I'm going to travel anywhere for 1/2 day/3 days/6 days or whatever, I'm going to make sure I have a place to stay before I get there and I'm going to have a "Plan B", and maybe even a "Plan C".
