To commit to a career in any of our active military services will require you to continuously train yourself to bend with the times. Accept all the training you can get. Stay abreast of new equipment and standards. When you have matured into the mold of trainer instead of the trainee, learn how to meet the challenges and enjoy them. The younger people in your charge need to be trained just as you did so keep up with the times so you can converse with them.

When I was retired out on the PDRL after 31 years and 3 months I still enjoyed going to work each day to meet the challenges of the day. So I stayed as close to he military as I could by working for the Navy as a civilian employee for another 10 years.

I once had the goal to surpass an old Master Chief (E9) that retired in the early 1980s at Naval Air Station Cecil Field, FL. He retired on his 65th birthday after completing 44 years of continuous active military service.

Put simply - when your mind and body say it's time - listen! And then post retirement - you'll so realize that you there is no way you could do all the things you do, if you still were working.
