Vehicle entry onto installations

I've been riding my motorcycle onto a local Navy base with expired decals (from an ANGS) for the last couple months. When I asked the guard at the gate about getting new ones, he didn't seem too worried about it. He did say that they hadn't gotten the memo yet to stop issuing them but they do know it's in the pipe and are expecting it soon.

This makes since!! Hope it helps!
The purpose of the registration is to enhance security for soldiers, family members and anyone who lives or works at Army (military) installations. The visitor/temporary pass system, is not intended to keep visitors away from the installation, but rather will help keep people on the installation safe. The increase in security will lead to some inconvenience. A little inconvenience to enhance personal security. The trade-off is worth it. If somebody is looking to do something, these measures hopefully will cause them to reconsider." This is from Gene Koehler an installation Directorate of Protective Services (DPS) associate director at Ft McCoy, WI.
Ft McCoy also dose 100% electronic scans of ID of those entering the post.

Was at MacDill last week and they have stopped giving out DECALS. They are out of stock and will get no more. You must go to ID issue and get entered via your ID card
into a new security system to get on base. They now scan your card and it will allow you access. Your dependents must get their cards scanned also

We were required to get stickers at a Navy base, (Kings Bay, Ga). But, 10 days later at Redstone Arsenal Army post, they wanted to see our registration and insurance papers. They didn't care about the stickers on the windshield because they apparently meant nothing to the Army.

I went to Eglin AFB for DBIDS processing (which will help me get on Redstone Arsenal not one single bit). I apparently broke the system, I have to go back this week to try again, as Eglin goes to DBIDS scanning 1 October. The sergeant at the desk tells me the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps are continuing the decal requirement, the Air Force followed DoD policy and deleted the requirement. Part of the reason for getting rid of the decals was it marked a vehicle as a target for potential terrorist activity. Think of your car saying "Hi, terrorist! I belong to a U.S. military service member! Wire me up with explosives!"

You never heard that there is the right way, the wrong way, and the ARMY way? The Air Force quit issuing decals years ago, when I showed up to the Gate 9 entry point at Redstone Arsenal with an EXPIRED decal, they whipped out the weapons and told me to exit the vehicle, then they went through my truck and RV with gusto. The fact that the Air Force was following DoD procedure by discontinuing issuance of base decals meant nothing.rodder98 wrote: We were required to get stickers at a Navy base, (Kings Bay, Ga).
