Stopped at Beaufort Marine Air Station to get decal for my new truck. Went through all the paperwork, then the clerk said lets go outside to put decal on the truck. I said the trucks home in Myrtle Beach SC. Did not get the decal. So I was staying overnight at Fort Stewart Ga. Saw clerk and told him I want a decal but the truck is home. He made out paperwork and handed me the decal. The Marine Air Station probably does it the right way but that was the first time I was not just handed the decal to install myself.

there does not seem to be a cut and drive standard for any installation. This is just another reason it all seems a bit worthless in most cases, as they all require you to show an ID to enter. Even that has doubt, as some say, because of just who it is that's checking the ID. It's just one of those things we'll deal with when entering a military installation.

I went to Fort Gordon yesterday to renew the decals for my coach and tow car. They gave me the new stickers but told me these would be the last ones I get. They said they had just been informed that they were "obsolete" and they will not be getting anymore of them when their current stock was gone. They did not know if this was Army wide or not.

You would think DOD would step in an make it a blanket policy to apply to all branches and bases........Either stickers or no stickers.....not willy nilly like it is now...

Thats part of the problem.. DOD did in fact step in a few years ago, deleting the need for stickers. As I have observed it was only AF bases that complied (and not all of them) with the DOD directive.. Hopefully that will resolve the issues if all the services comply.
