We were at Pelican Roast, in March. We found out the hard way about the dog rule, wish we would of known sooner. We thought the not leaving the dog alone, meant leaving the RV, while our dog was out. My husband was standing in the door way, and someone yelled at him about our dog. I can see why they would not know, or give you "Larry", information. They have 10 camping hosts, which stay there long term, and it seemed like an "old boys club." We were there about 4 years before that, and loved it. We found it was still nice, but not as user friendly. I wonder if the "secret site," is if you know the right people you get to stay longer. Just wondering, since P.R. seemed to be ran by what seemed to be a group of homesteaders. I think the situation there might be "too many cooks spoil the stew."

Hi All,
I'll just pop over the bridge and find out about this secret campground. I'm just 1 of those DOD type civilians with nothing to do. Of course I only sleep a few hrs a day and hit the ground at loud nosises.
But hay, thats what happens after your shot and blown up.
I'll let you know about Mayport, I go fishing off the jetties all the time.

thanks Crabber!

I'm currently on the opposite coast, so it's a little hard to drop by. :)

larry,
You listed in this last posting that there was a secret campground at Ft. Leonard Wood Mo. at the Piney river camp. I live 1 mile from Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. and have never heard of this. I knew that you could pitch a tent there but not for RV's. Can you confirm this? If not maybe I can check it out for you.

It was reported to me that the Piney River area at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, can accomdate RV's in additino to tents. The user who reported the information stayed there in a motorhome (I believe).

Being an "unsupported" camping location, I don't see why small RV's wouldn't be allowed to use it. It's dry-camping, but it's still another military camping location. I've found a couple similar setup's at Vandenburg AFB, except they charge for those campgrounds. Small, usually for tents, but small RV's are allowed.

Please let me know if you discover any additional details, or can supply some photos. Check out the information page for Piney Wood Camp to see what I already have.
