"Secret" campground at Mayport Naval Base, FL ???

I was just there, Oct 3-5. Talked to regulars there, they told me that the old mobile home park is for long timers. They mention that the Navy was tired of handling the mobil homes there. Removed them and to stay there you go through housing for a spot.

Yes, there is a boondocking area at Ft Wood in Mo. on the Big Piney river. We camped there last September in our 35' class A RV. We had the place to ourselves at no charge. Contact MWR on base for info and a pass. Close is a golf course and a small trout stream. We had a wonderful time.

We live there out side of the gate, but the only problem is the grass is usually a little high and the chiggers will eat you alive if you are there when they are there.

Thanks for the info. Piney River has already been added to the website a couple (??) months ago. Same with Osprey Cove in Florida. We just recently added another "secret" military campground discovered in South Carolina. Please keep sending in any leads on new, hidden, or other unknown military campgrounds.

i'm here at the present time. confirming the second campground. bathhouse in the works this year. long stays only. call Woodie for info.
