This may have been addressed previously but I could not find anything in a Forum search.
How much do you tip the bagger/delivery person when purchasing groceries at the Commissary?

Nope - this is a new subject. For me, it depends on how much "stuff" I purchased. Usually, my tip for commissary workers is only $2.

I tip between $3-$5 depending on how much I purchase. Most of the time, we have several carts full of food because we only go about every 6 weeks.

We don't use the commissary when we are home here in Oklahoma. The AFB is a 50 mile round trip since we are on opposite sides of Oklahoma City. Due to the distance we can go just down the street to WallyWorld for less.
Now, when we are on the road and staying at a Famcamp we usually use the commissary on base and usually don't have a large amount of stuff. So, we usually tip between $1 and $2 if they carry it to the car and $1 if they just bag it and we carry it ourselves.

No matter where I am traveling, I have found that baggers get a bit peeved when you ask them to put the bags in your cart because you are going to load them into your vehicle yourself. I guess they think that they aren’t going to get a tip, so I put a couple bucks on the counter before they start the bagging process.
Just for curiosity sake, I once looked into how one would get a job as a bagger. Almost impossible. I wasn’t of the right ethnic origin, the waiting list was forever, and you had to “know someone.”
Personally, I’d like to see a couple checkout lines in the commissaries where I could bag my own stuff if I wished.

We go to Newport RI commissary -- closest one to our home ... They now have three checkouts that are "check your own, bag your own" ... no cashier, no bagger. Problem is, you have to have less than 20 items -- but it's coming I'll bet ... Only people that use those three now are active and folks that live close and shop there alot. I can't justify a 180 miles round trip unless I do a huge shopping, which we do about once a month -- but if I could check and bag, I'd do it for small size shopping -- not to save the tip, just to do it and save the time -- plus, I won't squash my bread or break my eggs either.
