base sticker
I like the Air Force way, no stickers and check ID. We're supposed to be aware and alert to security concerns, alter our travel paths and times, and always strive to be a hard target, yet the military puts a big bullseye on our vehicles? :
Gee, I never thought of it in that way. Sure gives me food for thought.

: Oh, come on folks! Think about it, indeed. There are MILLIONS of stickers out there of one kind or another. If a terrorist organization is going to start targeting retirees, they will sure have a target rich environment but, why would they? Blowing up my Toyota will hardly last through one cycle on CNN. Blowing up a Federal Building anywhere will give them press time for years... make that decades. (This is all under "Terrorist 101".)
Now if you're living and working in a foreign country where the government tells you there is a threat, by all means follow all the advice. That's good sense and the smart thing to do. When in those places, I sure did! But if you're going into Yuma for a taco from the Proving Ground campground, you aren't going to be blown up by Al Qaeda. Or anyone else.
I for one am NOT going to worry about this and I would advise anyone else the same. Get the sticker and be done with it.

Well thanks, that even makes more sense. I will sleep much better, with our faded sticker, knowing l'm not a target, except for those darn birds, in the tree outside.

As has been mentioned here earlier, it proves insurance - at least for the day you get the sticker at least ... but it is one more layer of security, as long as it's administered the same everywhere. Problem is now, it's not the same everywhere -- so makes little sense ...
