I'll just add a suggestion to this thread. For those who need or want a sticker and are traveling, I'd suggest that you plan to stop in at one of the smaller military installations for faster service. My sticker expired recently while on the road. I first stopped at a major installation only to find that they were closed on the week-end. The next day I stopped at a small post where I got great service and was in and out in 10 minutes. It doesn't matter which installation you get a sticker from. They are all valid when needed.

You know the last time I was at McDill, (which do not issue stickers anymore), my sticker expired and I went into renew. Was told my address was over 100 miles from McDill and they stated it was the rules that you had to be within that 100 miles in order to register your vehicles. First time I ran into this, but went back the next day and spoke to another individual and got the sticker anyway.

I'm going to Indian Town Gap, It is an army national guard base. The base is located just off of I81 30 miles north of Harrisburg Pa. Thanks for the info

We were at Kingsway, and the guard told us our sticker was faded on our car, and we needed a new one. We have used it since, and know one else has mentioned it. We do plan on getting another one when we get home. I was not bothered by the fact that the guard noticed this, because he was doing his job.

I have grown concerned, because at some bases they barely look at your card. I can't count the times they have not turned them over to check to see if they were expired. I fear that some bases are getting to be too laxed. I find this is especially true at the bases that use contracted security guards. We should never forget, that the enemy still wants to harm us, and once we forget this we are opening ourselves to welcoming another attach.

I like the Air Force way, no stickers and check ID. We're supposed to be aware and alert to security concerns, alter our travel paths and times, and always strive to be a hard target, yet the military puts a big bullseye on our vehicles? ::)

I was stationed in Naples Italy back in the early 80s, we had plates on our cars that read AFI, which means AMERICAN FORCES ITALY. The red brigade was very active at that time. Talk about a target. We where told the same thing, not to use any type of pattern of our daily activities. What did it matter we had that plate on the back of our cars, even the shape was different than the Italian plate, go figure.
