We are diehard Tiffin RV folks and you would have a wide choice of class A diesel pushers from Tiffin. Having had a Phaeton for four years and loved it until we saw a used Tiffin Zephyr we can highly recommend the Phaeton.
We like the combo washer/dryer in our RV and do not care to use public laundry facilities in a campground, just the two of us so may do a couple loads every couple days but like the convenience and no problem with king size sheets. You will find many folks with a Class A will hang their shirts and pants on hangers and hang them outside on window awning rails or ladders attached to the back of the RV. There is a high % of trailers and 5th wheels in campgrounds and most do not have washer/dryers so laundry facility can be busy and costly (some are free but not many).
Micro/Conv. and stove top with 2 or 3 burners will do just about anything you could do at home. Travel with a crock pot and electric frying pan in a medium size as they are great for cooking in an RV. An oven will take away storage space; had one in our first trailer and rarely used it. Conv. will do anything you would make in the gas oven and you have much better temp. and time control with the convection.
You have probably already walked around in some of the military campgrounds and talked to folks about wants and needs. Also ask us for a tour of our Class A and see the actual lifestyle of the person. See how much they have sitting around because they do not have enough storage esp. in the kitchen. I have two pantrys that pull out in the Zephyr and in our Phaeton we had one big one too. Some manufacturers do not put them in so look for canned good and dry good storage.
Your lifestyle will be a determining factor how you want the seating area and seating capacity of the RV. A booth dinette is convenient if you have more than 2 people on a regular basis in the RV, grandkids or friends who travel with you. Look at couches for sleeping capacity if you need room for others to sleep, several kinds of pull-outs.
So many things to think about but you have given yourself plenty of time and RV shows are a great way to see what is out there. Tiffin RV is in Red Bay, Al. and will give you a tour of the plant and you can see everything that goes into making an RV and meet the folks in the repair shop and talk to folks who have there units there for repair.

I am also a firm believer in Tiffin even though I presently have a TREK. The Piggle-Wiggle in Red Bay has the best fried chicken that you will ever have.

I am now within 1 month of my CLASS A RV purchase and need some specific help. This Saturday I am going to look at these 3 RV's and wanted to get your opinions. I was wondering why the 38' Sports Coach had a small HP engine then the other 2.

There are used and then there are USED RV's so be very careful when you make a choice. First and foremost would be the tires on these 3 units, how long have they been on the RV and check the dates on the tires to see how old they are. Also check the generator and how many hours of usage are on it and be sure to start it. Ask if a maintenance log is available from the previous owner/owners and look at it carefully to see if everything was maintained. You really would need to check each and every system and appliance in the units and be sure they give you a 30 day timeframe to bring the RV back for problems you encounter and use the heck out of it in that 30 days. Of course you will test drive it and see how it holds the road and how the brakes work. Have never owned one of these but had a friend with the Chieftan and he had constant problems with the A/C unit in the basement that takes up storage space. I expect you will get some more help here as someone on this forum may own or has owned one of these units and can tell you firsthand what they experienced.
