Full-time "wheel estate" comes in all different types....Here's our new "retirement home"...

5th wheels come in many lengths and have alot of the same amenities as motor homes to include washers & dryers....We like 5th wheels mainly because we only have to worry about 1 engine...the truck....most MH full-timers have a tow vehicles...hence 2 engines to maintain....just our choice...

Is that really your coach Larry? It looks suspiciously like the Mother Ship in Close Encounters! :woohoo:

The only thing wrong with being retired is that you never get a day off!

:laugh: I use the solar to keep the batteries charged for electric when I want to "get away from it all" and the satellite dish to keep the website operational no matter where I am. Like I said - we still want our comforts.

Using what you have already;
- is financing 20 or 30 years ? I heard both.
- approx how much is insurance ?
- approx how much for a diesel tune-up ?
- how much is a full tank of diesel ?
- are there any other additional expenses ?

1) I got 20 year financing at 6% (this was 2 years ago).
2) For our motor home, full timers insurance is $1800 a year.
3) Never had/needed a diesel "tune-up".
4) Depends on the size of tank and price for fuel.
5) I've had gas and diesel motor homes. So far, the diesel is costing me less to operate and maintain (not counting mortgage). The diesel gets better mileage and only needs a yearly oil change. But again, I've only had the diesel for 2 years now.

Additional advice - get what you can afford. The gas rig worked fine for us for 8 years and got use everywhere we wanted to go and still live comfortably in it. However, monthly payments doubled for the diesel. This is one of the reasons we still work summers in the mountains.

JCSme – I can only agree with what Larry posted above. Diesels are the only way to go, especially in view of your statement on your last post

next enclosed trailer for car and toys

. You did not say what your toys are – ATV, golf cart, motorcycle, boat . . ?. If you plan to put any/all of these in an enclosed trailer, along with a car, you can expect your towed weight to go well over ten thousand pounds. If this is the case, plan on looking for a larger diesel motorhome as anything in the 32-38 foot range will most probably not suffice.
