Lee,
How do you get away with $9.00. I have been with Direct for 9 years and my rates went up to $11.00 about a year ago, or do you have Dish?

We have DirectTV at home and all we did was unplug the unit and install it in the RV. Worked like a champ while we traveled. Of course some sites make it almost impossible to get a signal. I also brought a spare dish on a tripod as a backup antenna. When we got home all we did was put the unit back in the house. No big deal.

You’re right R&L it’s not a big problem with either system (Direct or Dish). The problem is with network programming. As long as you stay in your home state you will still get your local stations. Once you leave the state you’re now an RVer and you have to apply to your carrier to get Network programming while moving around the country. Most people like the option of having Network programming from the east coast and west coast at the same time. New York City and Los Angeles are the most popular selections. With Direct TV you get the application from them, fill it out and in a few weeks you will have them. With Dish TV it is not as easy because they lost a court case last year that allowed them the same access as Direct TV. So now with Dish you have to go through a third party and the coverage is not very good in some areas and lots of full timers are switching to Direct TV when their contracts are up.

Thanks for the info. I only pay $3 for locals when at home. Not sure quadruple the price is worth it.

The east/west coast feeds are available where ever you are and you have the ability to watch the east coast networks while on west coast three hours earlier, or you can watch the west coast stations, three hours later if you are on the east coast. It comes in handy if you miss a show, as you can get either one.
Hope this makes sense to you,
Frank

We now have cable in the home base -- but we had satellite in the past, and we always had the local channels --
So, my Q is, does the Satellite somehow feed differently now, so that local feeds are not included --and you have to add them, or is the RV hook-up somehow a factor ...
