Wow! Received a response in less than 12 hours!!
Sorry Larry, but it doesn't appear that they are reconsidering anything except how to justify the exorbitant price to the RV community. Here's the "new" canned response:
I am sorry for your disappointment in our price at the Fort Belvoir Travel Camp. This is a brand new facility and is a revenue generating business for Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation at Fort Belvoir.
The Fort Belvoir Travel Camp is and was designed to be a premier RV campground and is again a brand new facility. DFMWR would not have set the price at $60.00 a night if it did not stand by it. The design of this Travel Camp is with the newest trend in oversized RVing and destination vacations. The Travel Camp was not designed for $20 a night tent camping. RV’ers who travel the country and have recently stayed with us are making additional reservations and are talking about the value of our Travel Camp as being greater than the charged nightly rate. Granted everyone wishes it was cheaper because of the current economical struggles. The Fort Belvoir Travel Camp hopes to be a military family vacation destination for many years.
The price was set after we compared other local and military campgrounds. Our prices are higher than our local competitors as we offer services, amenities and location above and beyond what anyone else has to offer. When determining price for our Travel Camp we did do lots of research, site visits and comparisons with the local military, regional, state and private Campgrounds. Many of our competitors that we compared to offer basic sites with gravel, 30 AMP electric hook-up, most site are without sewer and only a few have cable and WiFi.
To better explain why our price is $60.00 per night here are our amenities and site specs. Each of our sites are brand new with a view of the Potomac River. Each site is made of concrete, the length is 40 feet long and each pad is 20 feet wide and include a 10ft by 10ft concrete extension with a picnic table. For RVs larger than 40ft we have Pull thru spaces that have an additional 12ft on both ends for your one additional vehicle at no additional charge. Each site also includes: water, 50 AMP electric hook-ups, sewer, cable, WiFi, a picnic table, and a BBQ Grill fire pit. The travel camp is gated with a brand new private shower and restroom accommodations. Within the same building there is a coin operated laundry facility. We do not charge anything extra for additional persons or services. Our rate is a flat rate per night.
DFMWR at Fort Belvoir does have swimming pools and a bowling alley. Other amenities on post include a movie theater, shopping, spas and other recreational opportunities that are comparable to the local private campgrounds and far exceed the local military campgrounds. We also have mass transit that will take you to the metro or into DC if you are interested in those services during your stay.
The Fort Belvoir Travel Camp is located within Tompkins Basin along the Potomac River. Each site has a great view of the Potomac River. The location of the travel camp and our close proximity to the DC metropolitan area make us a perfect tourist/vacation destination. The travel camp is located in a perfect location that offers miles of trails, two new ADA accessible fishing piers and a recreational day use park.
We encourage you to come visit our facility at any time and take a tour with us prior to making your decision that we are too pricey. We think you will be impressed with this brand new facility and hopefully you will change your mind about the value.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions and thank you for your comment.

I think it's particularly interesting that so many "RVers who travel the country" are suddenly staying at a campground that has only been open a little over a week and are raving about the value and making additional reservations. I guess none of them are members of this site or have posted a review on here supporting this. Sounds like the Big Lie to me....say it often and loud enough and people will believe it.
Oh well...cross Ft Belvoir off my list.

Reference Sarge3398's ICE reply...
The length and detail of her reply indicates they "are concerned". It sounds like they are still trying to rationalize their decision for $60 a night. Although, they are still holding tight on their price. But these ICE comments ARE being noticed. They asked me to remove their ICE link and other comments about them being high priced from this website.

If we don't tell them what we think about a $60 per night military campground they might think everything is hunkey dorey. If only a few comment, we are just the squeaky wheel. If you're reading this and think that $60 bucks a night is ridiculous, here is the link to the ICE comment card.
ICE
Fill it out and tell them what you think in respectful terms. They may not understand "Salty" language.

Here is my response to the ICE comment I sent, response is same as others just moved sentences around. I really find it hard to believe folks are making additional reservations, must be politicians with their campgaign buses.

Sounds like that D.C. Shoot the Messenger Disease has spread to Fort Belvoir. Trying to put a lid on legitimate dissent? Are they kidding or what? Do they really think that removing comments about them being high priced will cause the RV community to flock to their "paradise?" These people obviously don't have a clue about the community they profess to be serving.
The next thing I can see them doing Larry, is signing up here on the website and submitting phony "reviews" praising their campground and the value of staying there. Better keep an eye out for that one!
I can't wait until Monkey44 sees this. I can see the steam coming out of his ears from here! :woohoo:
