Even if the AF is no longer issuing DoD stickers, just go to any military base and get one. I'm retired AF, and all my stickers are from an Army base that's close to home.

If you currently have a sticker from an Air Force Base and it is in good shape go into the pass and ID section and ask them for a year sticker that goes into the future as far as they got (Just acknowledge that you know the AF doesn't require them but tell them you travel to other military installation and they require them). I did that before I left Grand Forks, ND and they gave me a year sticker that is good until 2013, so I am good for a few years.

For what it is worth I just had to get a sticker on the Motor Home and had to renew stickers on the toad and my pick-up. I'm retired Army and work on Redstone Arsenal, AL. Only changes to stickers that the local registration people are aware of is that they no longer issue the Red/Blue/Black/Green section that indicated rank/condition of employment.

What are they putting in place of the Red/Blue/Black/Green section to indicate what base it is from? That is where the base is listed.

I had to get a new sticker at Ft Hood a few months ago. Because the old sticker wasn't issued there, I had to scrap it off and give the pieces to them before I could get another one. Luck for me I was driving the vehicle that I was registering or would have had to make a second trip. That would have been a major inconvenience if I would have been registering the MH. Don't know if any other installations are doing that or not.

My wife and I just returned from a trip up(from FL)to Onslow Beach-Camp LeJeune. We had been reading this thread on the stickers and decided we were going to get one for the MH and car upon arrival. It is definately worth the effort. When we followed the driving directions to the CG, we took hwy 172 onto the base. We were told we needed to turn around(not too bad, there is a lot of room at this gate)since we had no vehicle stickers and enter at the main gate after getting a visitors pass at the visitor center. No vehicles are allowed on base without some from of registration(temp or sticker). After we connected to the site, we went to vehicle registration and in less than 10 min, we had sticker sets for both vehicles. They still check all ID's, but if we had the sticker BEFORE we hit that back gate, we would have saved nearly 30 miles and the congestion of main gate traffic. Just a thought. Get them while you can so you have one if you need one.
