::)I just was at Corpus Christe NAS the end of July and they made me get a vistors pass, because I had a Randolph AFB and the guard told me the Navy does not regonize the Air Force Base stickers anymore, especially the Randolph one. By the way, I went in and out the gate for three days before they told me this, and were checking ID's all the time.

Gee, did the guard read the sticker and understand it was a DOD sticker? I know that the other part indicates the issueing base. I sincerly believe that the guard is wrong and if you gather the details and write your congressman there might be some action if this is their new ruling at Corpus Christi. This is what I mean. There is no consistancy on base passes anymore so I just get a temp. Might be a little inconvienant but I think it's better than pasting stickers on all my vehicles and then have some moron decide they won't honor them. I think when things like this raise their ugly heads that we need to immediately gather information and names and ask for the phone number and mailing address of the base Commanding Officer and then carry the complaint thru to him/her.

Eglin AFB and Hurlbert Field (AF) have not issued stickers for over a year. Not really a problem since there is a 100% ID check at the gate anyway. They have never asked for insurance papers. I got a sticker from Pensacola NAS for the motor home since we frequently use Navy or Army campgrounds. Got a sticker for the toad also. At Ft Rucker the guards had me pull into an inspection lane and get out of the motor home while they walked through. Not sure if this was SOP or we were just lucky...

I think you were just lucky with the random number search. We utilize SigsBee in KeyWest,Fl a lot and have been searched once. The search was sorta like "Are you carrying any weapons?". However, they never looked in the trailer in which were were haulin our motorcycles. I think you just got caught by the lucky number. Or else, they just wanted to see the inside of your coach.

Just went to Newport NS ... expired sticker, and even though 100% ID check at gates, still had to go to security office and renew stickers ...

The guard did the right thing. Since you already had a sticker and it had expired then a renewal was in order.
