I got to Lott Island on Saturday and hooked up with another Forum user here, then ran into a couple of more users! From looking at the reviews, it seems like there were a few of us here last week too. Seems that quite a few folks are using this as a stopover on the way back North from their winter trips. :)

The campground was full for a few days, but people are trickling out and it's only about half full today. Nice and quiet, except for the two loud mouthed Schnauzers next door! (You hear that Rich? )

I guess we got here before the one week of the year when they mow the lawn though. That seems to be a recurring complaint about Lott Island. In all fairness to Hunter Army Airfield though, that seems to be problem all over post. Rich and I took a ride over to the commissary the other day and saw 4 soldiers mowing the fence line along Perimeter Road with 2 push mowers and a couple of weed eaters. Might take them a while to finish.

We'll be leaving here Sunday and heading up to Pointes West at Fort Gordon for our annual Spring get together. A couple of the regulars are there already and the rest of us will be getting in Sunday and early next week. If you're in the area be sure to stop by and join us for some fun. We'll be in Area 2 until May 22nd. You can't miss us....just listen for the whooping and hollering! :woohoo:

The only thing wrong with being retired is that you never get a day off!

Headed to northern Colorado in a month. Same place I was last year. 8000 feet, far away from urban areas but close enough to the beer breweries, fishing on a private trout stocked lake, and temps that are rarely above 80.

We are heading down to Charleston SC next week. Spending some time at James Island County Park. Hanging out with old friends. We usually stay home in the summer, maybe a few short trips. Usually go down to Atlanta to see a Braves game. When down there we stay at Stone Mountain Park campground. This fall we plan on a long trip out west after school is back in session. Going to the Yellowstone area for sure. On the round trip we will hit Mount Rushmore and then work our way back to our home base in upstate SC.

We're currently enjoying the "new" campground on Charleston AFB (Shady Oaks)and will be here until Wednesday. The Local seafood is great and the area has a lot to see. We hope to visit the panhandle area of Florida this fall to include staying at least at one or two of the military campgrounds. For the rest of the year will be camping locally in and around the mountains of NC and TN.

Complete our 4 Month Odyssey by early June ( now in SC; NC, VA, MD left, then the return route through OH, IN, Il, WI). Will get back to our favorite "local" campground at Wyalusing State Park south of Prairie du Chien, WI at some point. Taking my oldest daughter's kids camping for a week in early August (location TBD), DWs older daughter's boys to the Black Hills of SD later in August, other local weekday camping trips for the two of us as time permits (honey do list, projects and a cradle and high chair will take some doing), and a return to VA in the fall to deliver the cradle and high chair while visiting the youngest grandchild due in August.

Other than that, not much doing.
