Vechicle Registration was created by greyhound73772
I went to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma to register my new tow car. I was told as of Feb. 2012, Ft. Sill no longer registers vehicles. The Sgt. at the information desk said it was an economy issue. With 100% ID checks, Ft. Sill command decided not to spend money on the vehicle stickers. The Sgt. asked me to go to weapons registration and have my old registration removed from the computer.
Is this unique to Ft. Sill or has all Army installations quit registering vehicles?

When we bought my wife a new car found out Fort Gordon has stopped issueing decals, they told us the army altogether is fazing them out there is only a few places that still have them and they eventually will stop too.

My understanding is that the 100% ID checks is part of the reason, but the fact that the states are all checking for insurance, etc. when you register a car is also part of it.

US Navy still requires stickers ... been to three bases in the last few months, and all require it.
Seems the Army has quit requiring it, and maybe some AF do and some don't.
ANG base here at Westport requires it and ANG at Cape Cod requires it as well, although with ID and insurance you can get past the gate at night. Day time requires inspection on some ANG bases..

Most, if not all, of the Air Force bases have stopped using the base stickers but the Air Force has a new thing that they are starting to implement at some of their bases, DBIDS. See
this Escapees Forum topic
for details.
All the navy bases that I go to still require base stickers.

True, most AF bases have stopped issuing stickers but if you want to get on a Navy or Marine base you need a sticker. This becomes a pain in the rear when you go to a Navy/Marine base in Calif because they make you get an emmission test before you can get a sticker, at least they did in San Diego. I was told by Luke AFB several years ago that DOD was going to drop the sticker requirement but I guess it is up to the Services.
